Whenever tournaments take place in the sand, the stars have four legs and the gala menu consists of hay, oats and bran, then everyone knows it is time for HIPPOLOGICA. Starting tomorrow, the equestrian event at the International Green Week will be the meeting place for horse lovers, riding enthusiasts and families keen on outdoor activities. The programme of events includes informative seminars on equine health as well as fascinating show jumping and dressage trials.
Hall 25: The ‘sporty’ place to be
For visitors in search of the pulsating and vibrant atmosphere that riding tournaments have to offer the place to head at HIPPOLOGICA is Hall 25. The focus here is on the riding arena which from Friday, 26 to Sunday, 28 January will be the venue for all the tournaments at HIPPOLOGICA. They include major attractions such as the HIPPOLOGICA MASTERS show jumping and driving competition (26 – 28 Jan.), the HIPPOLOGICA Vaulting Cup (26 Jan.) and the combined obstacle driving trials for pairs (Class M, 27 – 28 Jan.). On 28 January, accompanied by great fanfare, visitors can witness the final sports event, the HIPPOLOGICA Grand Prix (horse jumping, Class S**).
As one of the first equestrian events at the beginning of the year HIPPOLOGICA kicks off the horse-riding season. Thus, it is only logical that some of the best riders from the Berlin/Brandenburg region and surrounding federal states will be competing against each other in Hall 25. They include well-known show jumping riders André Thieme, Max-Hilmar Borchert and Felix Ewald, who only last week was presented with the honorary ’Golden Pin’ award by the regional riders’ association Landesverband Pferdesport Berlin-Brandenburg (LPBB) for his sporting achievements.
Attention will also focus on newcomers. Young talents such as the 13 year-old show jumping rider Charlotte Höing and 16 year-old dressage rider Lily Bendig will be demonstrating their skills. Bendig is due to enter the Bernhard-von-Albedyll Youth Tournament 2017/2018 which on 26 and 27 January will be taking place for the first time at HIPPOLOGICA. Also new on the HIPPOLOGICA list of sporting events is the final of the Nürnberger Burg Cup for Juniors, a dressage tournament which will take place on 28 January.
Healthy horses: four days of first-hand health tips
As well as numerous tournaments HIPPOLOGICA also features a wealth of expertise. At the HIPPOFORUM, a centre for knowledge and training, which for the first time can be found in the Marshall Haus at the heart of the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, horse lovers can get tips on a wide range of equestrian health topics. During the four-day show and over the course of 39 fascinating lectures and seminars, leading horse trainers, equine osteopaths and nutritional experts will be passing on their knowledge to the general public. Among the health topics they will address will be literally everything from head to toe about horses, including arthrosis, respiratory diseases, equine kinetics, gymnastics, stomach ulcers, physical vascular therapy and saddle adjustment.
Autograph session with ‘Wendy’ actor Jule Hermann and Henriette Morawe
She has her own magazine, has acted in her own film and now has her very own autograph session at HIPPOLOGICA. We are talking about Wendy, the main character in the eponymous cinema film, who in real life is Jule Hermann. On Sunday, 28 January, together with her acting colleague Henriette Morawe, she will preview her latest adventures in ‘Wendy 2 – Freundschaft für immer‘ which premieres on 22 February. At 12 midday in Hall 24 they will take part in an exclusive autograph signing session for visitors to HIPPOLOGICA and also answer fans’ questions. All available information on the film can be found at #Wendy2 and www.Wendy2.de.
In future, the capital's number one indoor equestrian event will take place on the last four days of the International Green Week Berlin. This year it is taking place from 25 to 28 January 2018. Sports events and shopping opportunities remain integral to HIPPOLOGICA. Riders, fans of equestrianism and breeders from the local region can also enjoy the culinary delights and obtain all the information the Green Week has to offer.
